TELPAS Reminders

Remember that beginning February 21 and continuing through March, your science, math, social studies and language arts teachers will be giving you writing assignments.  You will not know whether or not they are for TELPAS, so be sure to do your best!

In February and March there will be several other tests:

 

February 23-24:  6th grade MOY II

February 28-29: 7th grade MOY II

March 1-2: 8th grade MOY II

March 21:  TELPAS Online Reading Test in the Library

March 27-28

•    STAAR Writing for 7th grade 
• STAAR Reading and Math for 8th grade

Gingerbread House Contest

Don't forget to bring any of the following items so that your class can make gingerbread houses on Monday, December 19:

Graham Crackers (we need a lot of these)

Icing (we need this, too!

Candy (we are getting a lot of this, but you can still bring some)

Cardboard (like the bottom of a box)

 

Each class will have a contest to choose the best house for that class.  We will display the houses in the library.

Celebrations

We would like to thank everyone who contributed to our holiday celebrations.  We celebrated China and Vietnam's Moon Fest, Korea's Chuseok, and Mexican Independence Day.  You will soon see some pictures from the celebrations.

Labor Day

Monday, September 5, is a national holiday called Labor Day.  It is a holiday that honors the social and economic achievements of American workers that form the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country.  It is a day to stop working and have fun!  Therefore, there is no school on Monday!

Tutorials:  Wednesdays and Thursdays

In tutorials, students can receive help on work from any class.  

Conversation Club:  Wednesdays and Thursdays

A Murchison 8th Grade student named Caroline will come on Wednesdays and Thursdays to have a conversation club with interested students from Mrs. Henderson's classes.  We would like to encourage all of Mrs. Henderson's students to attend this club.  

Grading Policies:

ESL Language Arts (Mrs. Henderson)

Major Grades (projects, tests, class participation, essays) 50%

Minor Grades (homework, center work, warmups, journals) 50%
