Last weekend the Texas Music Educator's Association held it's annual All-District Band Auditions which is the first level of competition toward the All-Region Band. This competition starts with around 1280 students at four different auditions sites and gets narrowed to 205 of the top middle school musicians in this region making the All-Region Band. There were four district sites with about 320 students each who attended from all over the area including the following school districts: Austin ISD, Bastrop ISD, Eanes ISD, Hays ISD, and Pflugerville ISD.
Murchison had 83 7th and 8th grade band members competing at the All-District Band Auditions here at MMS on Saturday (11/5). We had 45 students make the All-District Band and 20 who advanced to the next level of competition - All-Region Band Auditions. The All-Region Band Auditions will be held Saturday (11/12) at Covington Middle School. Here is the list of All-District Band members (* means they advance to All-Region Auditions):
