C.A.T.C.H. Family Night: Parents, please read. Thanks.

Hello Awesome Paisano Parents,

If you or anyone you know would be willing to come and set up a demo table for CATCH night on March 30th, here at MMS, 5:30pm to 7:00pm, that'd be awesome.

CATCH stands for Comprehensive Approach to Childrens Health and it's an organization that supports healthy eating habits and regular exercise for kids.

We do have a committee contacting possible presenters for this event, but we'd love to have as many booths as possible set up.  Places like Sporting Goods stores, Grocery stores, and anything else related to healthy lifestyles, would qualify to set up and talk about what they do in their businesses and answer questions families may have in regards to their products.

We usually ask that vendors bring some gift cards or some sort of healthy incentives to get families to visit their tables, which will be set up in the Large Gym for the event.  From what I understand, the more the merrier.  :)

If you would like to participate, or know a business that would like to do this community outreach, please have them contact me.  Thanks.

Students, yes yet another reminder that you've had no new homework this week which frees up some time for your to use on getting your CE done and also for working on your BSP.

See me about your VISUAL PIECE, periods 2-6, if you have questions, PRIOR to the week before it's due.

I have two tutorials next week , which is the week before SPRING BREAK and I have a few the week we return.  The project is DUE a WEEK from the Monday we return from break, on March 26th.

Period 7:  GRQ#3 is due on March 5th.

STUDENT....BRING OVERDUE LIBRARY BOOKS FROM HOME....NOW...to TURN IN and get yourself off the obligation list!!!!

STUDENTS,

There was an announcement at 3:27pm today, right at the end of 7th period, letting you know that the plan for tomorrow is a REGULAR B DAY SCHEDULE.

You go to 2nd period, 4th period, lunch, 6th period, advisory....just as you always do on a B day.  Then after Advisory, you report to your testing room for your READING Benchmarks test.  You will remain in your testing room until dismissal at 3:30pm.

Have your BSP book or Science work or other work to do after the reading test if you finish early.

You will not meet with your 8th period class tomorrow.

NOTE:  If you have Science on B Day, bring BSP book, BSP questions and/or paperwork, to work on IN CLASS.   This is a RARE opportunity that you can work in class so take me up on it!!!!  Also, you can work on Current Events and get a little ahead on that as well. 

For those of you who didn't turn in a halfway point set of questions back on 2/15, 2/16, I'll be speaking with you, especially, so do NOT come empty-handed.

 

TESTING SCHEDULE TOMORROW FOR READING TEST! STUDENTS PLEASE READ!

Students, Many of you did as I instructed on Monday and brought work for today after the Math and Scienc testing.  YAY for you for getting work done.  Sadly, some came without any work to do or chose not to use the time they had after the Science test, which for most students, that was about 45 minutes to one hour.

So, TOMORROW, 2/29, see the testing schedule posted on this site yesterday.  You report to your 2nd and 4th periods tomorrow as usual.  You go to lunch 11 to 1130.  Then you go to your assigned testing room from 11:35 to 1:30 for the Reading Test for the Middle Of years Benchmarks.  The Writing Test will be administered through your Lang Arts' teacher's class, at their discretion. 

After the Reading test you will report to advisory and then 8th period.

If this schedule is changed in any way I will notify you on this site or it will be announced first thing in the morning during 2nd period.

                Lunch 12:24-12:54

                Last part of 5^th period meets at 12:58-1:31

                Advisory meets at  1:35-1:55

                7^th period meets at  1:59-3:30

 

2/29, Wed   2^nd  period class meets 8:14-9:29

                4^th  period class meets 9:34-10:56

               7th grade lunch Lunch 11:01-11:31

                Test 11:36-1:30

As soon as all students are finished with the reading test on WEDNESDAY ONLY, students will be dismissed, more than likely to go to Advisory and then to 8th period. We will know finalized schedule as students finish the testing on WEDNESDAY.

CHANGE in testing SCHEDULE for WEDNESDAY is that the WRITING test will be administered within the LA class time, at their discretion.

 

BRING BSP BOOKS to class with you this week!

Students,

I know you already know that you're supposed to have your BSP book with you every day, in case there are a few minutes here and there at the end of class to read them,but you need to be sure and have them all this week.

If you've lost your paper copy of the BSP directions, look in the left hand sidebar of this page and make a copy for yourself.  No excuses not to know the directions.  You've known since the beginning of the year that you may attend tutorials to ask questions concerning the BSP as well.

Science Writing Sample is on Monday, in class,  and Tues/Wed is the Middle of Years Benchmark Tests for 7th grade. So, you may have the opportunity to read when you are done with testing. 

If you are finished with your book, bring your BSP questions, periods 2-6, and work on them if time allows.  You also need to be thinking about your VISUAL PIECE as well, which is part of your project in addition to the 15 questions.

Period 7: You have GRQ#3 coming up on March 5th.  You will be allowed to work on that if you complete testing with time to spare.

REMEMBER ALL STUDENTS: This is clearly in the printed directions you recieved on January 9, 2012. I'm specifically posting this because some students chose not to do a halfway check point piece due on 2/15 and 16. 

The grading rubric for this project is on the set of printed directions as well.  No "I didn't know thats" will be allowed as excuses for not doing the project correctly.

NOTE:  A rough draft is NOT acceptable for your final product.  If you choose to turn in a finished product that is rough draft quality, be prepared to start with a grade of 70%.  This is being mentioned because a number of projects in the fall were turned in looking as if they were rough drafts, rather than a finished product.  Take Pride In Your Work!

Congrats to all who participated in the City-Wide fair last week and all who are moving on to the state-wide fair in San Antonio. 

Four students from the Paisano Team are among the nine projects moving on:  Abbey Goodman, Mia Spennato, Davis Spencer, and Griffin Tyler.

Congrats students!  Good Luck at state-wide.

BSP: Book Study Project

Some things to remember about the BSP in Science:

• This was assigned on 1/9/12. It is due on 3/26/12.
• Follow the directions packet you were given on 1/9.  Lost yours? See the lefthand sidebar for another copy to print.
• PERIODS 2-6:  Be thinking about your VISUAL PIECE.  See me with questions during tutorials.  Do not wait until a few days before the project is due. Remember you have the 15 questions to answer as well, according to the directions in the BSP packet AND the visual piece.  Both are turned in on the due date.
• Period 7:  One last GRQ due on 3/5.  IF you have any questions regarding the culminating portion of the project, please set aside time to attend tutorials to get questions answered.
• As announced today, as of 3/17, there are four weeks remaining until the due date of the BSP, three if you don't count the week of Spring Break.
