Here is the year's meeting calendar. Please make plans to attend--all morning meetings are mandatory. PLEASE NOTE the date/time changes for some events!

D.C. trip reminders

Please plan to attend the mandatory meeting on Monday February 6 at 6 PM in the cafeteria. All students attending the trip must be present with at least one parent. We will discuss all the dos and don'ts of the trip, give you a backpack and ID badge that you'll need to bring with you, and answer any questions you or your parents may have.

Please remember if you haven't turned in community service hours or service project forms, please do that ASAP!

Volunteer opportunity: MMS Book Fair

Ms. Cochran has requested student volunteers to help with promoting book fair next week. She needs:

• a group to hold signs as students are arriving and leaving on the buses
• and two groups to help with Family Night on Thursday, Feb 2 from 4-6

Please see Ms. Cochran in the library to volunteer!

If going to dc you must be up to date on service hours
Turn in project or service hour forms from fall fest ASAP
Turn in medical release forms for DC trip ASAP
Turn in service hour forms(on typepad) from last semester to envelopes on Cooper or Pydyn room doors(preferably Cooper door) ASAP
Thank you if you participated in the Bastrop fire project! It was a great success
Feb. 6 at 6:00pm in the cafeteria is a mandatory meeting if you are going to DC, bring at least 1 parent/guardian
 Pack layers of clothes for DC and waterproof shoes! Tennis shoes are not encouraged (be expecting rain or snow on trip!)
Check typepad often for information on new service or project opportunities
Friend the murchison NJHS page on facebook or go to feedblitz (link on typepad page) and enter email for updates on new typepad posts
Bring money to DC trip-there will be an opportunity to go to the grocery store and buy snacks for your room(no food on busses) and bring 1 dollar bills to buy water

Clean sweep - April 14th (more info available later)
7th grade induction ceremony coming up soon-for service hours you can help organize and sort forms and letters for 2-4 hours (sometime before or after spring break-dates available later)

Souper Bowl of Caring: Thursday 1/12

Murchison NJHS has been invited to take part in the Souper Bowl of Caring, a charitable organization whose mission is to help fight hunger. The main event is a food drive that will be held next Thursday morning starting at 5:15am at the Dell JCC. They need our help to bring canned goods and sort donations from 5-8am. They will provide breakfast, and several news crews will be in attendance, along with former Longhorn football player Rod Babers. If you need service hours, this is a great opportunity earn them before you even get to school, plus maybe get on television!

It's not too late to sign up--please email Ms. Cooper or come by room 215 for information!

Another service opportunity

On the morning of Thursday, January 12, the Souper Bowl of Caring will hold a food drive at the Dell Community Center, and we would love to have a huge supportive showing from NJHS!

They will be starting at 5am and would like students to sign up for two hour shifts from 5-7am, sorting donations. The news media will be in attendance--if you want to get on TV, this is the opportunity for you! And as always, if we can get more than 10 members involved, it can count as a service project.

We will set up a volunteerspot signup in the near future, so be on the lookout for that. Thanks!

Capital Area Food Bank

NJHS Members – WE NEED YOU!!

Hello all NJHS members! Please sign up to work Wednesday, January 4th at the Capital Area Food Bank from 1-4. We will release spots not filled on Thursday, Dec. 29^th.  Thanks!

Important reminder from the Food Bank:  wearing open-toed shoes, high heels, tank tops and sleeveless shirts is not permitted in our warehouse.  You will not be allowed to volunteer if you are wearing any of these items.

Volunteer Spot is up and running--all NJHS members are expected to sign up to work at least one shift at Fall Fest. Click the link below and enter your email address when prompted to do so. From there you can sign up for volunteer shifts.
