Adaptive Bowling Dates

Parents, here are the remaining dates for adaptive bowling at Dart Bowl.  You will be able to reference here in the future.  I am sending home  1 paper copy for you but will no longer send home notice of these dates unless asked by you. Dec 3, Jan 21, Feb 4, 25, Mar 11, Apr 1, 15, and May 6,20.

Community Based Instruction

CBI for the 7th grade class this week will be a bus ride to Central Market.  This will entail catching the 320 St. Johns bus and then transfering to the 3 Burnet bus.  We will do a tour of Central Market and then have lunch in the courtyard.  The students have an option of packing lunch or ordering there at the cafe.  We will return on the 21 Exposition at 12:57 and transfer to the Far West/UT at 1:14.   That transfer will be at 201 Dean Keeton and Whitis and will get us back at 1:34.  Of course, all this is if weather permits.  We all know our luck with that!  Forecast is sunny with a High of 68.  If you have any questions, please e-mail or call the room at 414-4545.

CBI

All went well with CBI last week. The 6th grade class had a great time at Highland Mall and the 7th grade class survived all the nonplanned events that occured that day.
This week is a Dart Bowl week and students will be allowed to dress up that day.
Any work that is being done in class can be located on my Google Docs account. If you do not have access, please send me an e-mail and I will add you to the list.

Life Skills 2010

Friday is our first community based instruction. We will be going to Highland Lanes. All children must pack a lunch that day and bring $2.25 for the bowling game.
Our reading for this month is the district mandated use of Unique Learning Systems. It is titled What is equality and discusses a girl named Sadie who was a slave. For science and social studies we will be using News 2 U. All the above will be supported with PowerPoint's, visuals, tactile items, united streaming, brain pop jr, tumblebooks, tar heel reader, and various software.
The kids are once again doing all can recycling for the Murchison campus. We are also about to start planting for our fall garden.
Any parents who are able, we could use a few supplies for the room. We are in NEED of tissue paper, hand sanitizer, laundry detergent, and air spray. If you can help with any of these items, we would greatly appreciate it.

The following is our remaining schedule for Adaptive Bowling on Friday's for this school year: 4/23, 5/7, and 5/21. We will also attempt 2 Cap Metro community based instruction excurssions before the end of the school year.
In addition, allergy season has hit our classroom hard and we have run through all of our tissue paper, so we would gladly take any donations possible. Thanks, Mr. Munoz

Community based instruction will not occur until April 9. That will be a bowling date.

Due to expected rain and TAKS ALT, we will be going to HEB on Thursday afternoon for CBI. We will purchase items needed for baking PTA breads next week. This will allow us to test the kids on Friday.

Last week we used the carrots and potatoes that the children grew in the garden and made a vegtable soup in class. It was perfect for a cold rainy day. This Friday we will be going to Dart Bowl for CBI.

Parents the forecast for this Friday is about a high of 45 and 40% chance of rain. Just our luck. Due to this we will not go off campus this week. We will however do a couple of cooking lessons in class with the kids. On a nicer note, we planted seeds for our spring garden this week and have begun to harvest some very nice carrots from our garden.
